TUESDAY – EXHIBITION

– Design can re-contextualize and redefine loaded and iconic subject matter. –

InteractivE / Poster Series / Book

Tragedy is a daily occurrence seen all over the world. It is often hard to contextualize tragedy when it is happening right before one’s eyes. There are those rare instances, however, when one can identify history in the making. But whenever history is in the making, there is some kind of intangible feeling. The day was Tuesday, September 11, 2001. A day often referred to as 9/11, Ground Zero, or the tragedy of September 11th. But to those about to live, witness and learn about the history unfolding before their eyes, it was a normal everyday Tuesday.

In “Tuesday,” I focus on the twenty-four hour period of time from different perspectives: those who lived it, those who witnessed it, and those who have learned about it. The use of media has become a tool to unify these perspectives together, allowing the global community to connect and share their stories. No matter how old you are, where you are located, or how closely related you are to the tragedy, the day of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 has had a major impact on our everyday lives.

witnessedtuesday.com is an interactive piece that allows the global community to recall and share stories about the day.

"Tuesday," the poster series, portrays news and information of the day including the weather, sports and stock market open.

"Tuesday," the book, is a first person, present tense timeline of a survivor's minute by minute journey down the North Tower during the attack.
